Explore and capture in oils or acrylics the beautiful grounds and gardens of Claydon Estate as they change throughout the seasons. Suitable for all artistic abilities, during these three day courses you will have access to the grounds and gardens of Claydon providing a glorious uninterrupted chance to view, paint, sketch and photograph the many gardens, buildings and views. In spring, capture the fresh greenery and carpets of bluebells, tulips and daffodils, not to mention the beautiful wisteria covering the house. The summer season will provide us with stunningly colourful borders in full bloom with beautiful shadows cast across the garden buildings and ornaments. Finally the vast range of colourful autumnal trees and dazzling dahlias will be the inspiration during the autumn, all set against the impressive 17th century Georgian house. The first of the 3 days will be spent exploring the grounds, capturing what you find in sketches and photographs.  You will then be able to return to the studio where you can print your favourite photos to continue working from or for those who wish, you will have the option to paint outside (plein air) in the gardens although this is not compulsory and will depend on your comfort and preferred method of working. In case of bad weather Peter will have an extensive range of photographic images for you to work from.
During the following 2 days you will begin studio paintings based on your preliminary work from day one. Peter will demonstrate a range of approaches and artistic principals such as composition, tone and colour in both oils and acrylics whilst leading informal group critiques to enhance your understanding and enjoyment of painting.

During these 3 days you can expect to create a number of drawings and sketches, as well as a minimum of 3 paintings depending on the size you choose.
Most of the materials are provided for this course at no extra fee. Some essential items are required. Artists are welcome to bring their own preferred materials if they wish.
